Fabric falls off face of headerboard and wraps around sides to return to wall. If the Roman Shade is to be mounted behind the valance, we recommend adding a minimum of 2” to the width of the valance, and a minimum projection of 3.”  Depending on the shade style, more projection may be required.

VALANCE WITH KICK PLEATS AT CORNERS
This is the valance we recommend for use over a Roman Shade. The kick pleats at the corners allow the shade to pull up under the valance without pulling the returns away from the wall. A minimum projection of 3” is recommended. If a Roman Shade is to be mounted behind the valance, we recommend adding a minimum of 2” to the width of the valance, and a minimum projection of 3”. Depending on the shade style, more projection may be required.

Valances with kick pleats at the corners and in the center, or across the width of the valance, are considered Box Pleat Valances. Placement of pleats to be specified by the designer.
